Is it actually a must to go to church before prayers are answer ?

I have been thinking about this, the bible says "thou shall not forsake the gathering of the brethren".
And in other verses in the bible, some people also prayed in their room and their prayer was answered (Daniel and Co).

is it actually compulsory?
